By this time of year, most dancers have thought about where they want to apply next for summer intensives, college programs, and professional companies. You may have even started to look at what the programs require and made a plan for getting all of your materials together.
One thing you don’t want to leave off the list is your session with a professional dance photographer.

Professional photography can have tremendous impact on your audition portfolio. Scott Edwards photography works with you at every stage of the process—from helping you choose the best session for your needs to making sure you are prepared for shoot day to coaching you through the session so that we capture your technique and artistry at their best.
Taking your own photos or helping out a friend might be a lot of fun, but it doesn’t give you the photos that capture your accomplishments and make an impression on audition committees.
And it’s not just about the photos. You will receive beautiful photos, but also a boost of confidence as you see the validation of your hard work in the images.

All audition sessions begin with headshots, followed by the required photos — a first arabesque or other dance pose that shows technique — and any other poses requested for your colleges or companies, including the "Royal Five." Depending on the length of your session, we may also conclude with a creative shot appropriate for each dancer that shows a little more of their expressive range.

MEET YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER
During my 35 years serving students in the Fullerton area as a high school teacher and administrator, I gained a wealth of experience with young people. Photography has brought me back to my own creative roots as I serve young artists.
I am proud to work with danced performing arts programs, such as Laguna Ballet Theatre, Launch Dance Center, and Idyllwild Arts Academy, and Los Angeles Ballet’s A Chance to Dance.
My ambassadors program helps pre-professional dancers ages 12-18 gain experience in front of the camera as they build their dance portfolios.
